Happiness is an obsession of mine. When I was a child I knew that I was experiencing the best years of my life. Naturally, from about 22 onward I have been obsessed with re achieving the zeal and zest for the life I had as a kid. Of course I've been trying too hard, and as a result have missed the mark in many ways. But, I have new hope.
I am 24 and I can feel a change coming. And it will start with a few amazing people who have amazing projects:
The Happiness ProjectMighty GirlBooks I Done ReadFor some time I've been looking for a reliable source that will tell me what books to feel amazing. This girl who writes the blog booksidoneread is a god send. She will be my source for reading material for the next however-long, and introduced me to the happiness project, which I will now recommend to every friend. I have not read the book yet, but i have read the blog and I will keep doing so and incorporating those things into my life. I do believe that being happy spreads happiness. You know it's true. Let me start affirming that by rejecting the most bothersome myth: You have to be miserable to be a great artist. It's complete horse and bull shit! You know it's true. In any case I'm starting to think that wanting to sacrifice your well-being just so you can make something "great" is quite selfish. When I look around at the people I truly admire, they are the happy ones. The smilers, the laughers, the brave, the crazy-in-a-good-way. So, go visit the happiness project if you are looking for such a thing and get to work! One way to do so is to make a life list as miss mighty girl has done. I like her sassiness.
Get on with it kids! Let's go make each other proud.
